    Rollins Professor to Lecture at Polasek Museum

    Boguslawski, Professor of Russian Studies at Rollins College, will deliver
    the final talk of a two-part series on Russian art and artists at the Albin
    Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens on Wednesday, Feb.8, at 7 pm in the
    museum`s East Gallery. 
       Boguslawski will discuss the works of
    Russian painter Vladimir Fomin, whose works are currently installed in the
    museum`s East Gallery, in connection with the general history of Russian
    painting, particularly avant-garde and icon painting. 
        A native of Poland, Professor
    Boguslawski received his M.A. in Russian Philology from the University of
    Warsaw and his Ph. D. In Slavic Languages and Literatures from the
    University of Kansas. He specializes in medieval Russian art and
    literature, but also writes about contemporary Russian literature.  
        His articles and reviews appeared in
    SEEJ, Russian Language Journal, Russian Review, Canadian-American Slavic
    Studies, and Slavic Review. In addition to his English translation of Hotel
    Million Monkeys and Other Stories by Victor Brook (Flamingo Press, Boca
    Raton, 2000), Boguslawski has translated from Polish into English two
    novels by Sasha Sokolov: A School for Fools (Kontra: London, 1984) and
    Between Dog and Wolf (WAB: Warszawa, 2001). 
       Boguslawski has also presented papers on
    icon painting, translation problems, St Nicholas in medieval literature and
    art, Russian novelists Remizov and Sokolov and Polish poet Julian Tuwim. 
      The museum`s three current
    special exhibitions, Vladimir Fomin: Amazing Lubok, Infinite Illusions
    featuring the works of Joulia Vitaliy and A Chance Meeting: John Sloan,
    Robert Henri and Charles Grafly are open to the public until Feb.26.
